Bushcraft Courses From Bright Expeditions
Ever fancied building a shelter or learning how to build and start a fire?
Let our bushcraft experts share their knowledge and experience with you and wow you with their bushcraft skills on one of our bushcraft courses. You can learn how to produce fire using a bow drill and build a shelter while enjoying a woodland experience.
Working with you to design a bespoke bushcraft course for your school or group and tailored to the specific needs of your students, we’ll make sure that alongside learning, there’s lots of laughter.
Alternatively, we can combine a bushcraft course with a map reading course and some teambuilding activities to turn your woodland experience into a 2 or more days residential.
We’ll keep you all toasty around a roaring campfire, giving you and your group precious time away from technology and instead surrounded by nature…and of course enjoying some s’mores in-between activities!
In the evenings we’ll ensure there’s some entertaining stories and songs by the fire.
Our courses can include the following activities:
Fire lighting
Learn how to make kindling, source natural kindling and try out different fire lighting methods e.g. bow drill, strikers and some unexpected ones
Shelter building
Learn how to make shelters with ropes and tarps or from natural materials and how to identify different trees and plants and their uses for example making cordage from stinging nettles
Cooking over a campfire
Cooking over a tripod, using a dutch oven, using leaves and clay as cooking materials
Safe use of tools
Knives, billhooks, bushcraft axes, bow saws, Laplander saws
We can run a one-off taster session or maybe a block of sessions or a multi-day residential at one of our sites in wild Sussex or Surrey with all equipment provided. As with all of our courses, we have risk assessments and processes in place to make sure your woodland experience with us is safe as well as enjoyable.
